The School of Business and Management (SBM) advances the mission of the university by cultivating professional programs of excellence in business, management, accounting, and economics; fostering a culture of scholarship among faculty and students; and preparing students to transform how business works. It houses 13 undergraduate majors and minors and three graduate degree programs (MBA, MBM, MAcc) with a combined enrollment of around 1400 students.
While reporting to the SBM dean, the director will collaborate with university departments and school leadership to play a central role in overseeing school operations, increasing SBM enrollment, and supporting academic outcomes assessment. Will provide organization, build capacity, create structures for sustainability, and deliver needed data and data analysis in the assessment and accreditation activities within the school.
Master's degree in business required.
Valid CA driver license required.
Ability to streamline and implement new structures and roles that create speed, efficiency, and support rapidly shifting school and student demands.
An understanding of higher education, including the recruitment cycle, and the importance of student enrollment is essential.
Experience with LMS systems and technologies used to support assessment activities.
Experience with technology, social media, and digital marketing communications.
Primary Duties/Essential Functions (Include but Not Limited To):
Facilitate the assessment of student learning at the program, departmental, and school levels, including supporting Chairs and Program Directors around the development or alignment of learning goals and outcomes, the process of curricular/program mapping, the creation of assessment instruments including rubrics, and the analysis and presentation results for academic and student support services areas.
Update online course materials periodically, and regularly monitor course imports for quality.
Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students in the School of Business and Management to provide training and updates related to assessment and the technologies used to support assessment activities.
Develop and execute recruitment strategies to meet or surpass SBM student admit and enrollment (yield) goals.
Represent the SBM to various public audiences (i.e. community events, high schools, college fairs, and conferences) in writing and through speaking engagements.
The director initiates and enhances relationships with external audiences, including employers, internship providers, SBM advisory board members, community organizations, alumni and donors. The director must be adept at networking and building relationships and be able to articulate the mission, ethos, and values of the SBM clearly and effectively.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write professionally and in a relational manner. Proficient public speaking or presentation experience.
