The University of Michigan, School of Nursing (UMSN) is looking for a Writer for the Communications and Marketing Office who will provide a variety of professional writing and administrative responsibilities to support the school's marketing and communications goals. The Writer will manage multiple journalistic and editorial projects for both external and internal publications and manage several internal communications tasks.
Develop articles that highlight the work of the faculty, students and UMSN for publications. The Writer will report on stories that demonstrate the impact of the work being done. The Writer will work with photographers, videographers, and others to develop material for publications.
Write a wide range of material including news articles, feature stories and newsletters for various constituents, and social media content.
Write marketing content for student recruitment and for routine UMSN publications, including its bi-annual alumni magazine, student viewbook, and other annual department newsletters.
Poll faculty and administrators for events and news items.
Maintain news and events portal on web and work with web content managers on routine updates and periodic content review and enhancement.
Be the primary copy editor for all content.
Work with the Communications and Marketing Director to maintain UMSN photo library and become familiar/current with photo library of their domains and maintains UMSN communication guidelines.
Coordinate with the Digital Marketing Coordinator on website content, social media posts, and paid digital media.
Work with the Communications and Marketing Director to coordinate with UMSN leadership and different UMSN offices on specific marketing and communication projects.
Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, or communications.
Five (5) or more years' of work experience in journalism, writing, or editing.
Experience writing in AP style.
You should have superior communication skills, with the ability to receive and convey information clearly and concisely for various mediums.
Excellent computer skills, including expert knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in Photoshop, preferr
Shift/Hours/Days: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; may include some occasional weekend and/or evening hours.
