Student-Centered DEIB Program & Events Coordinator
Primary Purpose:
The Student-Centered and DEIB Program and Events Coordinator plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and engaged student community within the law school environment. This position is responsible for managing the programming and events for the law school that are student-centered and/or focused on DEIB initiatives and supporting relevant University events on the Sacramento Campus.
This position involves working with various student organizations, coordinating events, and facilitating initiatives aimed at enhancing the academic, professional, and social experiences of McGeorge students, and fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging across our campus.
Essential Functions:
- Work to plan and coordinate programming and events for the law schools Student and Career Services office (Finals Snack Table, MAP Meetings, Orientation, Reorientation, Wellness Week).
- Work with Registered Student Organizations to ensure that they have the support needed for planning and executing events effectively and within university guidelines, whether individually hosted or co-sponsored by another University or McGeorge organization or department.
- Work to plan and coordinate events and programming with a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives and programming including Heritage Month programming and support for faculty speaker series.
- Work to plan and coordinate Center for Inclusion and Diversity (CID) events including, but not limited to, Unity Graduation Celebration, events that involve student organization co-sponsorship, and events that support McGeorge students.
- Work to plan and coordinate events and programming with other law school programs, departments, and University of the Pacific schools, where the goals of said events and programming intersect with McGeorge academic programs (for example: BEAT Treats, Diversity Week, Sacramento Campus Survey, and Sacramento Campus Student Mixer).
- Develop event attendance goals and objectives for programming and events. Compile attendance lists and reports on overall results to internal and external constituencies.
- Gather feedback from students or other applicable constituencies on programming and events. Use said feedback to improve programing and events, and report on overall results to internal and external constituencies.
- Ensure programs and events are executed within allotted budget and deadlines are met, coordinating with University events staff as necessary.
- Employ strong organization skills at big picture level and demonstrates ability to drill down and follow-up on details, ensuring timely completion of tasks and effective management of all phases of a program, event, or project.
- Oversee volunteer and student support for events.
- Support the law schools registered student organizations and student government in the planning and coordinating of student-run events.
- Work with the law schools Marketing Department on the development of content for programming and event promotional materials like emails, social media posts, invitations, event surveys, etc. and ensures materials are consistent with University branding requirements.
- Maintain the social media platforms of the law schools Student and Career Services Office. Support social media platforms of the CID.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree.
- Two (2) years of experience in events management, Student Services, or other relevant work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Four (4) years of experience in events management or Student Services.
- Some experience in program and events management for a university.
- Experience with graphic design software and digital marketing.
- High comfort level in utilizing digital marketing and communication platforms for email, texting, or social media strategies.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
- Ability to collaborate to resolve appropriate solutions to problems, presenting alternatives, and implementing solutions.
- Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary action to eliminate or mitigate potential negative effects.
- Ability to be flexible in working independently as well as collaboratively with academic faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors, and volunteers.
- Initiative to organize and follow through with complex tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. - Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge.

Extended periods of sitting with repetitive hand/wrist motion while keying on computer or using phone. Frequent walking and standing required. Event set-up and take down may require bending, stooping, squatting, reaching and occasional climbing of stairs. Employee may need to load and unload items for events, cart items around campus, and move tables and chairs. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours.
Hiring Range: $19.58 - $32.30 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
