Position Summary
The System Director of Internal Communications and Public Relations reports to the Sr. VP of Business Development and Communications, Chief Strategy Officer, and works closely with the System Director of Strategic and Digital Marketing to translate brand strategy into compelling, integrated internal and public/media relations communication plans.
The focus of this role is to:

Elevate, showcase, and enhance Bronson’s culture and pride.

Strengthen understanding of our mission, values, strategies, and unique attributes across staff and the community.

Serve as a collaborative, strategic advisor to executive and service line leadership to define and execute communication goals.

Key Responsibilities
Internal and Executive Communications
-
Lead internal communication strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
-
Monitor employee sentiment and support two-way communication tools.
-
Collaborate with HR to support engagement and employer brand initiatives.
-
Oversee internal channels (intranet, newsletters, digital signage, etc.).

Develop comms for major initiatives and change efforts.
-
Lead communications for forums, recognition events, and support for ERGs.
-
Coach leaders in storytelling; draft exec communications including speeches, op-eds, social content, and more.
Public and Media Relations
-
Develop and execute external PR strategies that align with Bronson’s strategic goals.

Build strong media relationships and elevate Bronson’s brand presence.

Support executives and clinical leaders with thought leadership and media training.

Plan PR for major events (e.g., groundbreakings, partnerships, anniversaries).

Provide PR coaching and refine messaging across locations.
Crisis Communication
-
Partner with emergency management and safety teams to ensure preparedness.

Develop and lead crisis communication plans and serve as spokesperson when needed.
-
Participate in after-action reviews and improve communication readiness.
Brand and Digital Strategy
-
Partner with Digital Marketing leadership to align brand and digital storytelling.

Explore new platforms and tools to enhance employee and public engagement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work across departments to ensure brand consistency and message integration.

Partner closely with HR to maintain and promote Bronson’s employer brand.
Operations and Performance Metrics

Lead and mentor a small, high-performing team (2 direct reports).

Manage relevant budget line items.

Develop metrics and dashboards for PR, engagement, brand sentiment, and internal comms.

Use data to optimize communication strategies and monitor media/internal engagement.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s preferred.
-
10+ years of healthcare communications and public relations experience.
-
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with executives, clinical leaders, media, advocacy groups, and community leaders.

Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.

Proficient in writing/editing communications in various formats (print, digital, video, etc.).

Knowledge of new media technologies and inclusive communication practices.

Innovative, action-oriented thinker with a successful track record in culture-building.

Deep understanding of community needs, healthcare industry competition, and business operations.

Strong skills in analytics, strategy, project management, and change leadership.
