The Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) will lead all revenue generating activities across the organization that drive membership acquisition and long-term sustainability through the Association’s product line growth, ensuring alignment with the Association’s mission to support and advocate for New Jersey’s business community.
This is a vital role that will collaborate closely with the CEO and senior leadership to develop and implement product, marketing and sales strategies that advance NJBIA’s objectives, enhance member engagement, and strengthen its position as a leading business advocate in New Jersey. This role will promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure a seamless, personalized experience for members across all channels, tailoring products, services, and digital solutions to the needs of the NJ business community.
- Identify new market opportunities and expansion areas.
- Create strategic initiatives using economic trend analysis, policy developments, and member feedback.
- Identify partnerships, programs, and new products and services to build and grow revenue
- Develop sales strategies, promotional campaigns and pricing with the marketing and sales teams.
- Ensure a comprehensive sales strategy across the organization.
- Lead and manage strategic projects, organizational goals and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Drive year-over-year growth and sustainability for NJBIA's membership and revenue from products and services in collaboration with the senior team.
- Supervise colleagues in the sales, marketing, and membership departments
- Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Qualifications:
- BS in Business/Marketing or related program, MBA a plus
- 8- 10 years' experience leading marketing and sales strategies that produced revenue growth, preferably within a membership-based association or advocacy organization.
- Ability to align product strategies with broader business goals, with a focus on driving innovation.
- Proven experience in successful product and service development and delivery.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with New Jersey’s business landscape and policy environment is advantageous.
Required Technical Abilities & Skills:
- Strong financial acumen and experience overseeing budgets at a strategic level.
- Experience with Agile for iterative development and data-driven decision-making a plus.
- Experience with marketing automation tools.
- Experience with digital marketing strategies and platforms like Google Analytics.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms ie.: Salesforce and HubSpot.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to inform decision-making.
